After over a decade since the last film installment, “Sex and the City” is now back and better than ever. Almost a year ago the “Sex and the City” reboot was announced and it has been well over a decade since the second movie premiered. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will all be reunited on the screen this week for the highly anticipated sequel series.

The first two episodes of the series premiered Thursday, Dec. 9th on HBO Max and the remaining eight episodes, which run for a half-hour, will be available to stream weekly on Thursdays.

While the full plot of the series has not been released yet, this much is known. The series follows Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York, all in their 50s, in the next chapter of their lives as they navigate life in New York City with some new and old faces popping up along the way.

In the last few weeks HBO Max released the official teaser and trailer for the reboot on YouTube, giving fans a sneak peek into what will be going on during the series. The glimpse of the show allowed fans to see the trio of friends reunited again and an insight into where the women all are at this stage in their lives. No major plot twists were revealed during the trailer.

To address what many fans are thinking, “What about Samantha?” Kim Cattrall will not be returning to her role as the iconic Samantha Jones. Parker confirmed in January that Cattrall would not be joining them for the series on Instagram. At this time it is unclear how the show will explain the absence of Samantha. There have been rumours circling around that Samantha has been sent to London where is thriving on her own, according to Daily Mail.

Many of the leading men in “Sex and the City” will be seen in the series, including Carrie’s on and off again man, Mr. Big, who is played by Chris Noth. In the preview clips of the show and a few behind the scenes shots shared by the actors, the couple seems to be getting comfortable together in the series. Miranda and Charlotte’s husbands are also returning to the series. David Eigenberg will resume his role as Steve Brady and Evan Handler will resume his role as Harry Goldenblatt.

Charlotte and Miranda’s children will also be seen throughout the series. Miranda’s oldest son, Brady Hobbes, will be played by the “Life In Pieces” star, Niall Cunningham. Charlotte’s daughters, Lily and Rose, will both be seen. Cathy Ang will star as the oldest daughter and Alexa Swinton will portray the little sister.

The infamous exes may be seen as well during the series. John Corbett, who played Carrie’s ex, Aidan Shaw, confirmed to Page Six in April that his character would be making an appearance for “quite a few episodes.”

In May it was announced that former “Grey’s Anatomy” star Sara Ramírez would join the series as a regular. A press release explained that Ramírez would play Che Diaz, who uses they/them pronouns, “a non-binary, queer, stand-up comedian that hosts a podcast on which Carrie Bradshaw is regularly featured.”

More new characters, budding romances and all the “Sex and the City” drama fans love will be included in the reboot and it is sure to be an instant hit for weeks to come.
