The St. Bonaventure University men’s and women’s track teams rewrote the program record books at the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational this past Friday.

Freshman Riley Dillon ran a school record 23.82 in the 200 meters for the men’s team, a week after breaking the school record in the 400 meters.

The 4×400 relay team of Dillon, sophomores Christian Figueroa and Alex Ryan as well as senior Kieran Ryan set another school record after posting a 3:31.27.

“I may only be a sophomore, but the commitment and the talent this team has is unlike any other,” said Figueroa. “We have incredible leadership from the older guys and incredible talent from the younger guys. I am extremely excited to see where this team is going forward.”

Two Bonnies had top 10 finishes in the 1000 meters. Junior James Fitzmaurice placed eighth in 2:39.55, a personal record, followed by freshman Ryan Umiker in 2:41.07.

Senior Zane Courtwright finished fourth out of 64 in the mile after running a 4:20.38, a personal record and the second-fastest time in Bonnies history.

Freshman William McCarthy led the Bonnies in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:56.88, a personal record which places third in the record book.

“The team has been on fire lately,” said McCarthy. “Nearly half the team set personal records at Youngstown, and there was a lot of movement on the record board. I’m excited to see everyone progress throughout the next two meets rolling into conferences.”

For the women’s team, freshman Meghan Lex beat her own school record mile time after posting a 5:10.63 and placing sixth.

Classmate Chloe Fisher ran a 5:34.65, a personal record and good for fifth in Bonnies history.

Sophomore Adria Magnusson gave the Bonnies another program record in the 800 with a time of 2:24.01.

“I have been putting in the time and work on the track and in the gym, so I am happy that the hard work is finally paying off,” said Magnusson. “None of this success would be possible without our coaches. Coach Mac and Coach Lonzi are smart and talented. They understand the science behind the training, and trusting their process goes a long way. I believe the whole team would agree that we are all incredibly thankful for everything they do for us.”

Magnusson, Fisher, freshman Katelyn Wilkes, and sophomore Mary Trost ran a school-best 4:21.59 in the 4×400.

In the 3000, Mia Winters clocked in at 10:37.07, breaking her previous school record.

Junior Camyrn Cwilklinski set her personal record with a 1:06.05 in the 400, which lands fourth all-time.

“My performance was a good start to the year as it was my first 400 on an indoor track!” said Cwilklinski. “These past two meets have been some favorite meets to compete in since being on this team, and that is because of my teammates. There were over 30 PRs at this meet, and it is still just the beginning of the success this team is going to achieve.”

The Bonnies return to Ohio on Saturday to compete in the Spire Institute Indoor Invitational.
