ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Six-foot-7 four-star forward Victor Aborowa, the highest-rated high school prospect to join St. Bonaventure University in the modern recruiting era, committed to the Bonnies on Friday.
Aborowa ranks among the top 130 players in the 2027 class. He explained the primary reason he chose Bonaventure.
“I chose the Bonnies ultimately because it is the perfect spot I can go to develop exponentially and win as well,” Aborowa said. “They are building something great and I want to be a part of it.”
Aborowa also emphasized the coaching staff’s role in his decision.
“I was extremely close with everyone on the coaching staff. They’ve been down to my school quite a lot of times to watch me play,” Aborowa said. “It’s a different level of commitment.”
He also noted how head coach Mike MacDonald’s system fits his strengths as a wing. Beyond developing his own game, Aborowa said he hopes to help Bonaventure become a consistent contender.
“My goal is to win and impact winning on a high level,” said Aborowa.
The forward from Andrews Osborne Academy in Willoughby, Ohio, chose the Bonnies over several other programs, including Kansas State University, the University of South Florida and Loyola University Chicago.
Aborowa is not only the highest-rated recruit in Bonaventure men’s basketball history, but the first major commitment of the Mike MacDonald era.
