“I like helping other people,” said Zaklukiewicz. “Being in student government gives me the opportunity to voice people’s concerns and make them heard to the people who are sitting in positions of power at our university.”
Zaklukiewicz said he is more than willing to speak up for students who are uncomfortable with talking to administrators.
“I’m very family oriented; not only with my individual family but our Bonaventure family,” said Zaklukiewicz. “We’re a small university and we are all here together. That’s one of the things about our school that is very unique and we should utilize it.”
Zaklukiewicz said he has held a few positions in student government previously.
“I was the class of 2027 president, student committee chair and now I’m the student body president,” said Zaklukiewicz. “I’ll be sitting on the faculty senate board, representing students in meetings. I’ve been a part of organizing a pajama drive on campus that improved the lives of the children in our area.”
Zaklukiewicz said most people don’t know what the SGA is or does and he is hoping that will change by SGA implementing something new next semester.
“We decided to add Fall Weekend, which would be a spinoff of Spring Weekend,” said Zaklukiewicz. “Everyone loves Spring Weekend. It’s a great experience. Since we will all be coming back from the summer and everyone will be getting ready to hit the ground running, academically and in our relationships, this would be the perfect thing.”
The SGA is meant to represent the entire student body. Zaklukiewicz said he wants people to be more aware of their presence on campus.
“We’re going to be pushing that SGA is here for the people,” said Zaklukiewicz. “We’ll have a barbeque on the first Friday when everyone is back next semester to show how SGA is here to serve your needs and interests. Hopefully everyone comes out, has a good time and enjoys the sun and everyone around them.”
At the induction ceremony, the entire SGA Executive Board was sworn in, as well as class officers.
