St. Bonaventure, N.Y.— The St. Bonaventure University men’s soccer team hosts Little Three rival Canisius University Wednesday at the Tom 80′ and Michelle Marra Athletics Field Complex.

Bonaventure, coming off a loss, allowed 3 goals and failed to find the back of the net Saturday at Fordham University.

The Bonnies (2-3-1 overall, 0-1 A-10) will face a Golden Griffins (1-5-1 overall, 0-1 A-10) team that has scored just 0.5 goals per game this season. While Bonaventure averages nearly double Canisius’ number of goals per game (1.5), Canisius ranks in the top half of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in goals allowed per game (0.8).

“The margin of error is so small,” said Bonaventure head coach Kwame Oduro. “Any chance they [Golden Griffins] have at a goal should be well earned.”

Oduro credited his junior goalkeeper, Jules Dechert, who won this season’s first A-10 Defensive Player of the Week award in August.

“We’ve got to pressure Canisius,” said Oduro. “We’ve got to get them to make mistakes.”

Oduro also said his team holds an advantage in experience at the Division I level.

“They are a young team,” said Oduro. “They play a distinctive style. We must use experience to overwhelm them.”

First kick is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the match will be streamed live on ESPN+. No ticket purchase is necessary to attend.
