Correction: The Hickey Dining Hall will operate under limited hours throughout Easter Break, only closing fully on Easter Sunday. Please contact Dining Services with any questions.

The Hickey, St. Bonaventure University’s main dining hall, will be closed on April 14 through the 17 when some students return home for Easter break.

The St. Bonaventure dining hall’s Instagram page mentions this break as well as signs in the dining hall.

This three-day break will leave students to figure out their own meals. Students said this inavailability to the dining hall would have been nice to know about in a more effective form of notice.

Cassidy Bertino, a freshman psychology major, said that she did not expect a three-day break. Bertino said she will be happy to go home because she did not know about the Hickey closing for this break.

Bertino said, “I am going home, but I did not know the Hickey was not going to be open.”

Bertino mentioned ways that she and other students can find about this closing, instead of how it was announced.

“I feel like it is something they should put in our residence halls like over last semester break, and they should probably put it on the notice board,” said Bertino.

Some said that they have hopes of staying on campus this break, even though they did not find out from the Instagram post or the signs in the dining hall.

Ryan Connolly, sophomore adolescent education major, will be staying on campus again for Easter break.

Connolly said, “This won’t be very different from last year as I stayed then as well, though last year was shorter and I was only alone for a day or two.”

Connolly has expectations to cook his meals this break.

He said, “I plan to do some cooking in the kitchen in Francis.”

Though Connolly said that the Hickey being closed will cost him about $30 to $50 for the three days, he finds himself feeling appreciative of those who work in the Hickey.

Connolly said, “Personally, I don’t really mind. The employees need a break as much as we do, they’re working hard and we should be understanding.”
