Election season for the 2022-2023 Student Government Association is underway. This year, the SGA president, vice president, secretary and treasurer are running unopposed.

This year, Connor Raine is running for SGA executive board president.

“This is an extremely important time in the history of our university. After this academic year we will welcome our new president. I look forward to engaging with him and being the voice of the students,” said Raine, a sports management and marketing double major. “Another reason I wanted to run for executive board was to interact with the students of our university and allow their voices to be heard.”

Jacob Palmer, an accounting major, is running for vice president.

“This year was perfect timing of sorts, with all four members of our current executive board all graduating,” said Palmer.

Tom Seipp, a sports media major who has been a member of SGA since January 2021, wants to continue the strong line of communication SGA has established with students.

“After a few conversations, I decided to run to help continue the strong communication between the SGA and students. It was clear this previous executive board took pride in communicating with students and I’d like to continue that trend,” said Seipp.

Seipp is running for executive board secretary.

Palmer spoke about his want to see change in the university.

“I feel as if COVID-19 has separated us all in a way that is going to be hard to repair, but not impossible. Trying to find the kids who have felt isolated the last two years here and finding ways to get them involved is a priority of mine,” Palmer said.

Seipp gushed about the continuity between the campus community.

“Gosh, can I say everything?” Seipp said. “What I think stands out most is the continuity between all of the students, administrators, professors and alumni. Always being on a campus that brings incredible positive vibes is something I don’t take for granted.”

Raine is proud of the alumni at St. Bonaventure and wants to continue that relationship.

“My favorite thing about St. Bonaventure is the alumni community. There is nothing like our alumni,” Raine said. “No matter where we traveled for basketball games there was always a gathering and they were never small. While at these events everyone is so proud of our school’s history and colors and would do anything for us as students; from donating money so we could travel to Virginia, to sending hundreds of students down to NYC. The alumni are so passionate and have set a precedent for me as to who a bonnie truly is.”
