It is that time of the semester again where finals are right around the corner and assignments are starting to pile up. It is also the time of the semester again where it is basketball season and all the fun of the holidays are upon us. It can be hard to make time for everything in one day so here are a few time management tips to help finish the semester strong while still having fun.

The first tip is to understand what your assignments entail and when they are due. Knowing which assignments will take you no time at all and which ones will take over an hour can be key to how you plan out what assignments to do and when. If you know there is a basketball game at night it might be a good idea to knock out the short assignments that day and wait to write a paper until the next day.

Having a planner or some kind of spreadsheet with all your assignment’s due dates can also help to serve as a reminder of when you need to get things done. Also adding in campus events you want to go to into your planner or spreadsheet can help you to know when a due date and event might be on the same day.

The second tip is to use your phone for good when it comes to school. There are many apps that you can download to help keep you on task when you are sitting down to do your homework. Finding a focus timer with built-in breaks can help you to work on assignments for longer while still taking breaks.

If you are too tempted by your phone while doing work, try leaving it in your room while you go to the library or even across your room on do not disturb so that you are not tempted to look at it every time a notification comes up.

The third tip is to create a to-do list at the beginning of each day to know what you have to get done that day. This way you can focus just on what absolutely has to get done that day and it can make it easier to get things like laundry done during a busy week. Rewarding yourself after getting your to-do list done can help to motivate you to keep making to-do lists and allow for built-in relaxation time.

The fourth tip is to find a balance between school, work, and life. Even if you have more assignments than usual during the week of a big basketball game does not mean you have to miss the basketball game. Making sure you make time to have fun can help you to live a balanced life so you do not become burnt out with school.

Using these time management tips can help you to stay on top of your schoolwork and allow you to go and enjoy all the events that your campus has to offer.
