Graduate guard Laycee Drake scored 29 points to match her career high, but the St. Bonaventure University women’s basketball team fell to Dayton, 75-71, Wednesday at the University of Dayton Arena.
Both teams traded baskets throughout a closely-contested first half. Dayton (11-10, 4-6 A-10) led 32-29 at halftime.
Dayton opened the fourth quarter with a 17-7 run to take a 62-53 lead. Bonaventure (12-10, 3-7 A-10) responded with nine unanswered points to tie the game at 62 with 5:23 left.
Sophomore guard Olivia Leung’s 3-pointer gave Dayton a 69-66 lead it would not relinquish.
Leung tallied 23 points, four assists and two rebounds for the Flyers. Graduate guard Nicole Stephens chipped in with 19 points, three assists and a rebound.
Bonaventure graduate guard Aaliyah Parker added onto Drake’s career day, recording 17 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Loyola Chicago (9-11, 5-4 A-10) hosts Bonaventure Saturday, Jan. 31, at 3 p.m. at the Gentile Arena in Chicago. The game will air on ESPN+ and the Bonnies Online Network.
