St. Bonaventure’s men’s cross-country team races in the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic, its third meet of the season, Saturday at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
Bonaventure returns to the course for the first time since 2021 when it placed last out of 36 teams.
“This is a fast course with a lot of loops.” said William McCarthy, a senior runner. “I need to make sure I understand where I am at during certain points of the race to execute a race plan. Specifically, I need to pay attention during middle miles, so I don’t have to scramble during the finishing portion of the race,” said McCarthy.
The Bonnies placed seventh out of 22 teams at the Lock Haven Invitational, their previous meet, on Sept. 27 in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.
On Sept. 30, The Atlantic 10 honored graduate student runner Clay Peets as Men’s Cross-Country Performer of the Week, his second time earning the honor this season.
Peets ran an 8K time of 24:15.1 seconds and set a program record for the ninth time.
The men’s gold 8K starts at 9 a.m. followed by the women’s gold 5K at 9:45. The men’s blue 8K begins at 10:15, the women’s blue 6K at 11, the men’s silver at 11:30 and the women’s silver at 12:15 p.m. Admission is $10 per person.
