The Buffalo Bills’ Super Bowl window is closed

The Buffalo Bills’ season ended in a horrific loss to the Cincinnati Bengals’ in the AFC Divisional Round. The effort was pathetic, the coaching was disastrous and the game plan was non-existent. It looked as if the Bills wanted the season to end.

To make matters worse, The Bills’ rival, the Kansas City Chiefs’ went on to win yet another Super Bowl, adding insult to injury. It certainly wasn’t an ideal way to end the season, and with new reports questioning their two star defensive players Tremaine Edmunds’, and Jordan Poyer’s future with the team, it is safe to say that the Bills are looking at yet another rebuild.

According to a recent Twitter post by Doc Kleiman, “#bills are expected to lose Safety Jordan Poyer and Tremaine Edmunds in free-agency according to @AdamSchefter.” Poyer and Edmunds have a  detrimental effect on the Bills’ defense, and with defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier gone, the once-dominant unit will be a shell of what it was.

The Bills do not need a full rebuild. They have their franchise quarterback in Josh Allen and a top receiver in Stefon Diggs. But, they need a mini-rebuild. The team needs to look different next year. The Bills need more depth at receiver, and a real number-one running back. James Cook is not going to cut it. Gabe Davis was supposed to have a breakout season, but he is too inconsistent to be a real threat in the playoffs.

However, the defense is what needs the most attention this offseason. A healthy Von Miller will certainly help, but they are still lacking depth at cornerback and safety. The bills should be all in on Jalen Ramsey this offseason, as he would provide incredible depth at the cornerback position behind Tre White.

But even with a totally revamped roster, what reason is there to believe that the Buffalo Bills will win a Super Bowl? It is not time to start panicking, but it is easy to understand why so much of the Bills Mafia is starting to lose faith in their beloved team. Every year it’s heartbreak and failure.

The Buffalo Bills must at least reach the AFC Championship game next year if they want Diggs to re-sign because if he leaves, the Bills are in major trouble. They have a top-three quarterback, so that shouldn’t be too much to ask for, but after all, they are the Bills.
