St. Bonaventure University hosts an event called “Spring into Bonas” for accepted students considering coming to Bonaventure.
Like many other students, I officially committed at Spring into Bonas.
Something in the atmosphere that day made me want to come here more than ever. Prior to April 4, 2024, I had no intentions of coming here. I came to the event without my parents, as they didn’t need to come because I insisted that I wasn’t going to commit.
The Reilly Center was full of club stands, showing off what the school has to offer. This was where I was first introduced to The Bona Venture, SBU-TV, Bona Responds and so many more clubs. This selection of clubs gave me something to be excited about once I started my freshman year at Bonaventure.
It wasn’t even a nice day out. It rained the whole drive to campus; but it didn’t matter to me or to some others who committed that day.
Montana Geibel, a sophomore political science and criminology double major, also attended Spring into Bonas in 2024.
“At Spring into Bonas, I got to meet other senior students and other people that have become some of my closest friends,” said Geibel. “It confirmed to me that I could be happy here and that this place really did feel like home.”
Geibel said she also felt that the presentation of clubs was inviting and encouraged her to attend Bonaventure.
“I remember the clubs presentation being very exciting,” said Geibel. “I left signed up for 5 different clubs and it made me so excited to get onto campus in the fall.”
The clubs presented at Spring into Bonas were not only appreciated for their content, but their inclusivity as well.
“It was really cool to see how much diversity and opportunity there was at Spring into Bonas,” said Deaglan Carney, a sophomore cyber security major. “It helped me to see who I could become as a Bonnie.”
Carney said that seeing all of the students passionate about their clubs was inspiring.
“Spring into Bonas and the possibility of becoming a Bonnie excited me and really solidified my decision to commit to Bonaventure,” said Carney. “The people made a huge impact on why I picked SBU. The joy and the excitement that the staff brought that day had a large impact on myself and my dad.”
At Spring into Bonas, 2026, I am getting the opportunity to have a full circle moment: Working at the BV table, one of the tables that convinced me to commit to St. Bonaventure University.
