Falling out of love with emo boys

For those who don’t know, this is a sequel. A year ago (Feb. 18) I wrote an article covering the relationships of Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), Pete Davidson (funny guy) and Travis Barker (Blink-182). Since then, Davidson and Kim Kardashian have called it quits, (no surprise there) and just breaking — Megan Fox and MGK are also done for? But I am getting too far ahead of myself.

I have to address the elephant in the room. If you have loved emo boys for as long as I have, then surely you have heard of Panic! At the Disco (PATD). From “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” to “Miss Jackson” to  “Death of a Bachelor,” PATD has been on the emo, pop-punk scene since 2004.

I grew up belting those songs because I have cool older siblings, so they have a certain place in my heart. But now that I have grown up, I hate Brendon Urie (the frontman for PATD), and I am happy that PATD is breaking up. They haven’t come out with anything good since “Death of the Bachelor,”which was released in 2016.  Fun fact: Taylor Swift’s worst song is “Me!” because of the Urie feature (amongst other reasons). Honestly, any song with a Urie feature, citing “Roses” and “Love in the Middle of a Firefight” is a flop. Take it from me, they are nothing to write home about.

Over the last couple of years, allegations have arisen in regard to inappropriate behavior conducted by Urie. There is nothing proven, but I subscribe to the notion of girls supporting girls, so now Urie “icks” me out. There is nothing cute about sexual misconduct.

Speaking of emo boys I hate, back to MGK. He comes with his own laundry list of controversies, which we can delve into if you guys want a finale, but for now, I want to address the slightly smaller elephant in the room. Per my last article, we all know about the questionable courtship between MGK and Fox. Well, there is allegedly trouble in paradise — maybe there was fighting, maybe there was cheating — but regardless, the couple is on the outs. One does not simply quote Beyoncé’s “Pray You Catch Me” on an Instagram post when their fiancé is being loyal (shoutout to Jay-Z for the infidelity because it produced a banger album). I’m on team Fox for this one. Maybe it’s the name (although it is spelled wrong), or maybe it’s just because I hate emo boys. A year can change a lot after all.
