Changes have been made to printers on campus to better accommodate students.

Michael Hoffman, executive director of information technology, said students can now print documents from their own computers by using either a web page to print a document or by installing the device driver on their computer.

Hoffman said these changes were the result of both student feedback and the university’s support of bring your own device (BYOD).

“More and more students are bringing their own devices to campus, and we wanted to be able to provide a solution that allows them to use their devices to print.”

Hoffman said feedback about the changes have been overall very positive.

“Over 100 students have used the service to date,” he said.

Hoffmann also said technology services is looking to improve in other areas too.

“We are in the early stages of completely redesigning my.sbu.edu to improve usability and access information.”

Printing instructions can be found on MySBU and Hoffman also encourages students to contact the Helpdesk at helpdesk@sbu.edu for technology assistance.
