Western New Yorker’s love Buffalo sports. While other areas of the country may ignore this great city, many locals are infatuated with its regional teams. So here it is: The BV’s take on all things Buffalo sports

Sabres

In a rare case of events, the Sabres won a game Tuesday, beating the Montreal Canadiens 3-2. Buffalo has now “improved” to a 15-33-3 record (33 points), but still sit in the basement of Atlantic Division, as well as the entire NHL. The 14-game losing streak is over (remember they were a somewhat respectable 14-19-3?), but the team has a tough schedule ahead of them.

Last night, Buffalo played the St. Louis Blues, who have more than double – DOUBLE – the amount of points as the Sabres. From there, the Sabres will face the Dallas Stars tomorrow and the New York Islanders on Sunday to top off the weekend. Do not expect a 14-game winning streak to begin within this span.

Bills

Newly hired Buffalo Bills Head Coach Rex Ryan made headlines yet again this week, but this time in reference to his infamous Mark Sanchez/ foot-fetish wife tattoo. In response to being fired as New York Jets head coach, Ryan has decided to change the Gang Green on his upper right arm to Buffalo Blue. Let’s just hope that Ryan will still have enough green in his wallet to give the tattooist a nice tip.

Bandits

Buffalo’s professional lacrosse team put John Tavares, uncle of the New York Islanders’ John Tavares, on the second level of the injury reserved list this week, meaning that the NLL’s all-time leading scorer will not play for at least three weeks. The 46 year old pulled his calf muscle in Toronto.

The Bandits will lose Tavares’ essential veteran leadership, but the team will be looking forward toward tonight’s game against the Calgary Roughnecks at 9 p.m.

With a 3-3 record, the Bandits sit in second place in the East Division, behind only 4-1 Toronto. Their 68 goals scored versus their 75 goals allowed needs to be addressed – and the loss of Tavares will not help that – but with back-to-back games against the Rochester Knighthawks (2-2), the Bandits can surpass Toronto and claim first place in the
