The St. Bonaventure University women’s basketball faces Drexel University in the first round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament on Thursday in the Reilly Center, marking its first appearance in the postseason since the 2015-16 season.
The Bonnies (16-15, 7-11 A-10) finished ninth in the Atlantic 10. They won four out of their last eight games, but lost 61-59 to Loyola University Chicago in the second round of the A-10 tournament.
Bonaventure ranks sixth in the Atlantic 10 in field goal percentage and fourth in opponent field goal percentage, shooting 41.7% from the field and holding opponents to 39%.
Graduate guard Laycee Drake leads the Bonnies with 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
The Dragons (21-10, 13-5 CAA) finished second in the Coastal Athletic Association. They won seven out of their last nine games, but lost 53-49 in overtime to Hofstra University in the CAA tournament semifinals.
Amaris Baker, a graduate guard from Philadelphia, Pa. leads the Dragons, averaging 19.1 points per game.
The Bonnies first home postseason game since the 2013-14 season will tip off at 6 p.m. and will air on ESPN+.
