Ramblers Slip Past Bonnies Women’s Basketball in Tight Finish

   Tied for 10th place in the Atlantic 10 standings, the St. Bonaventure women’s basketball team fell 58-55 to Loyola University Chicago, which sits sixth in the conference, Saturday afternoon at the Reilly Center. 

   Teams that finish between the No. 5 and No. 10 seeds automatically advance to the second round of the A-10 tournament, which begins March 4. 

   Loyola (13-14, 9-7 A-10) started out with a 13-2 lead and led 17-10 to close out the first quarter. 

   Bonaventure (15-13, 6-10 A-10) took its first lead, 20-19, with 3:22 left in the second quarter, but Loyola closed out the half on an 8-0 run to take a 27-20 lead into the break.  

   The Bonnies outscored the Ramblers 20-9 in the third quarter to take a 40-36 lead into the fourth. 

   Loyola used a 6-0 run to take a 54-49 lead with 2:02 left in regulation, and the Bonnies did not regain the lead. 

  Sophomore guard Alexa Kinas led all scorers with 21 points and six rebounds for the Ramblers.  

   Graduate guard Laycee Drake led the Bonnies with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists. 

   Bonaventure visits George Washington University (14-15, 6-10 A-10) for its penultimate game of the season on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m. at the Charles E. Smith Center. The game will air on ESPN+ and the Bonnies Online Network.
