The St. Bonaventure women’s basketball team snapped its five-game losing streak with a 59-50 win over Davidson on Wednesday.
The Wildcats (15-10, 7-5 A-10) led 16-14 at the end of the first quarter.
Bonaventure graduate guard Laycee Drake sank a jumper to give the Bonnies (13-11, 4-8 A-10) a 30-29 lead. Her block at the arc and buzzer-beating layup gave Bonaventure a 32-29 lead at halftime. The Wildcats never regained the lead.
The Bonnies pushed the margin to as many as eight in the third quarter.
Davidson used a 7-0 run to cut Bonaventure’s lead to 52-50 with 1:30 left, but the Bonnies responded with a 7-0 run to seal the win.
Drake led the team with 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Senior guard Charlise Dunn recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.
Bonaventure hosts Duquesne (7-15, 0-11 A-10) in its next contest, Saturday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m. in the Reilly Center. The game will air on ESPN+ and the Bonnies Online Network.
