Bonaventure Women’s Basketball’s Second Half Surge Falls Short Against La Salle

The St. Bonaventure University women’s basketball team dropped its third straight game 83-74 to La Salle University Saturday at the Reilly Center. 

   Bonaventure (12-9, 3-6 A-10) opened the game leading 11-2. The Explorers (11-9, 4-5 A-10) answered with a 45-11 run extending into the second quarter to take a 47-22 lead. They led 47-26 at halftime. 

  A Bonaventure 23-7 run in the fourth quarter cut the deficit to single digits with 44 seconds left. Down nine, the Bonnies were forced to foul. Redshirt junior guard Ashleigh Connor sealed the game at the free-throw line. 

 Bonaventure committed 19 turnovers, while La Salle committed 11. 

  Junior guard Aryss Macktoon tallied 23 points and eight rebounds for the Explorers. Connor chipped in with 21 points and two steals. 

   Graduate guard Laycee Drake led the Bonnies with 16 points. Junior forward Brillana Boyd and graduate guard Aaliyah Parker each recorded six rebounds. 

  The University of Dayton (10-9, 3-5 A-10) hosts Bonaventure on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. at the University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio. The game will air on ESPN+ and the Bonnies Online Network.
