Bonaventure Women’s Basketball Falls Short Against George Mason

   The St. Bonaventure University women’s basketball team dropped its fifth conference game of the season, 57-48, to George Mason University Wednesday at the Reilly Center. 

   The game was tight throughout the whole game. Bonaventure (12-8, 3-5 A-10) led 16-13 at the end of the first quarter. 

   Freshman guard Mary Amoateng’s jumper gave the Patriots (13-6, 8-0 A-10) a 28-26 lead at halftime. 

   Bonaventure freshman guard Elyse MacDonough three tied the game with a three at 36. Patriots’ junior guard Kennedy Harris responded with a three of her own to give George Mason a 41-38 lead at the end of the third quarter. 

   The Patriots sealed their victory with a 10-2 run to close out the fourth quarter. 

   George Mason outscored Bonaventure 18-6 at the free throw line. 

   Patriots redshirt junior forward Zahirah Walton recorded 14 points and seven rebounds. 

   Graduate guard Aaliyah Parker led the Bonnies with 11 points and seven rebounds. 

   Bonaventure hosts La Salle University (10-9, 3-5 A-10) on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 3 p.m. The game will air on ESPN+, YES Network, Bonnies Online Network, WESB Sports B107.5 FM and 1490 WESB-AM.
