Bonnies’ Skid Reaches Five With Loss to La Salle

   The St. Bonaventure University men’s basketball team dropped its fifth straight game, 78-74, to La Salle University Saturday at the John E. Glaser Arena. 

   Both teams traded baskets in the first half. The Explorers (6-13, 2-4 A-10) led 38-37 at halftime. 

   La Salle pulled away in the second half, pushing its advantage to 67-58 with 4:52 left in regulation. 

   Senior forward Daniel Egbuniwe knocked down four 3-pointers in the final 2:24 to pull the Bonnies (11-7, 0-5 A-10) within two, but his push fell short. 

   La Salle redshirt junior forward Jerome Brewer Jr.recorded 27 points. He shot 9-of-9 from the field, 3-of-3 from three and 6-for-6 from the free throw line. 

   Senior forward Frank Mitchellled the Bonnies with 26 points, seven rebounds and four assists. 

   Bonaventure hosts Loyola University Chicago (5-14, 1-5 A-10) Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Reilly Center. The game will air on ESPN+, YES Network, the Bonnies Online Network, 100.1 FM Bradford & Olean, 1340 AM Jamestown, 106.9 FM Hornell and 92.1 FM Rochester.
