The St. Bonaventure University men’s basketball team dropped its third straight game, 81-77, to Fordham University Saturday in the Reilly Center.
Fordham (10-7, 1-3 A-10) started hot, holding a 10-4 lead 2:30 into the game.
The Bonnies (11-5, 0-3 A-10) grabbed a 21-20 lead with 8:33 left in the first half, but Fordham answered with a 3-point buzzer beater from junior forward Rikus Schulte. The Rams led 39-34 at halftime.
Bonaventure rallied in the second half. Junior guard Darryl “Buddy” Simmons II pushed the lead to six with a layup with 8:22 left.
Graduate guard Dejour Reaves put the Rams back in front, 69-68, with a layup and 3:07 left.
Both teams traded baskets over the final three minutes, but Christian Henry, a senior guard, made two free throws to give Fordham a 75-74 lead it would not relinquish.
Reaves led all scorers with 31 points, four rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Simmons II led the Bonnies with 24 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Saint Joseph’s University (9-7, 1-2 A-10) hosts Bonaventure Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Michael J. Hagan Arena in Philadelphia. The game will air on ESPN+, the Bonnies Online Network, 100.1 FM Bradford & Olean, 1340 AM Jamestown, 106.9 FM Hornell and 92.1 FM Rochester.
