Despite Olivia DiFranco’s career high 16 points, the St. Bonaventure University women’s basketball team dropped its A-10 opener to Saint Louis University 76-70 Wednesday night at Chaifetz Arena.
Bonaventure falls to 7-3 on the season, while the Billikens improve to 3-6.
The Bonnies went on an 11-2 run after trailing 13-9 to start the second quarter. At halftime, the Bonnies led 32-31.
Both teams traded baskets in the third. The Billikens went on a 7-0 run in the fourth to push their lead to 59-50 and never trailed again.
In 18 minutes off the bench, DiFranco, a Bonaventure sophomore guard, shot 6-of-8 from the field.
Graduate student guard Laycee Drake tallied 16 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Freshman guard Jahda Denis led Saint Louis in scoring with 24 points, four assists and four rebounds.
Bonaventure travels to Le Moyne University (1-6) Saturday with tipoff set for 1 p.m. at Ted Grant Court. The game will air on NEC Front Row and the Bonnies Online Network.
