Albany Snaps Bonaventure’s Win Streak

  The St. Bonaventure University women’s basketball team’s best season start since 2009 ended Saturday with a 62-53 loss to the University at Albany, SUNY, at the Reilly Center. 

   Bonaventure entered the matchup 5-0 and never held a lead. They trailed 11-7 after the first quarter, but Albany stretched the margin to 32-17 by halftime and controlled the rest of the game. 

  Graduate student guard Aaliyah Parker, this week’s CPL Student-Athlete of the Week, led all scorers with 18 points and seven rebounds.   

   Freshman guard Ivona Djikanovic recorded a career high 13 points. 

   Sophomore guard Delanie Hill led the Great Danes with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Albany improves to 4-2 on the season. 

   Bonaventure opens a seven-game road stretch starting at the Cleveland State University Invitational, facing Cleveland State University (4-1) on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 6 p.m. at Woodland Gymnasium in Cleveland, Ohio. The game will air on ESPN+ and the Bonnies Online Network.
