The St. Bonaventure University women’s basketball team defeated Niagara University 74-56 Friday in the Gallagher Center to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Both teams traded scoring droughts in the first half. Niagara opened the second quarter with a 10-0 run to take a 19-18 lead. Bonaventure responded with a 15-0 run and never trailed again.
Three Bonnies scored in double figures, led by graduate guard Laycee Drake with 19 points. Freshman guard Mallory Heise and graduate guard Aaliyah Parker added 14 and 10 points respectively.
Freshman guard Chasity Wilson led Niagara with 17 points and two steals. The Purple Eagles fell to 0-1.
Bonaventure travels to Binghamton University on Tuesday, Nov. 11, for a 6 p.m. tipoff at the Binghamton University Events Center in Vestal, New York. The game will air live on ESPN+ and SNY and will be broadcast on the Bonnies Online Network.
