St. Bonaventure University’s women’s basketball team defeated Division II Mansfield University of Pennsylvania 82-34 in its season opener Wednesday in the Reilly Center.
Mansfield opened the game with a 5-0 lead before Bonaventure responded with a 27-0 run. Bonaventure led 42-10 at halftime and by as many as 52 points in the game.
Bonaventure graduate transfer guard Laycee Drake, who finished with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists, led the team in scoring.
Junior guard Katie Sheeler led Mansfield with 11 points and two rebounds.
Bonaventure travels to Niagara University for its next game on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. in the Gallagher Center.
