Bonnies Women’s Soccer Closes Home Slate Amid Tough Season

  St. Bonaventure University women’s soccer fell to 3-11-2 with a 6-0 loss to the University of Dayton Sunday, extending its losing streak to eight straight, all against Atlantic 10 opponents. 

  The team nears the end of its first season with head coach Melissa Sherwood, who spent three seasons in the same role at Mount St. Mary’s University. 

  Sherwood guided the team to the Metro Athletic Atlantic Conference Tournament semifinals in her second season and coached three All-MAAC selections. 

  Midfielder and forward Giovanna Coghetto, a graduate transfer and sports administration major from Shaw University, leads the team in scoring this season with 12 points on five goals and two assists. 

  This season, the Maserada Sul Piave, Treviso, Italy native recorded a hat trick against Post University and GoBonnies.com named her CPL Student-Athlete of the Week Sept. 1. 

  Graduate midfielder Daniela De Souza ranks second among the team in scoring this season with nine points on three goals and three assists. 

  The Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil native transferred from Central Connecticut State University and majors in sports administration. 

  Bonaventure sits last out of 14 teams in the A-10 with a conference record of 0-8. 

  Since 2021, Bonaventure has not finished higher than 12th place in the conference. Their most recent A-10 playoff appearance ended with a 5-1 loss to The University of Massachusetts Amherst. 

  Bonaventure’s season finale will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 against The University of Richmond at Presidents Field at River Road in Richmond, Va. Admission is free.
