The St. Bonaventure University women’s soccer team dropped their ninth consecutive game, this one by a score of 5-1 to Duquesne University.

The Dukes (11-5-1, 6-3-0 A-10) started the scoring early when junior forward Kaitlyn Killinger scored her fourth goal of the season unassisted.

In the 12th minute, the Dukes looked to add to their lead with a one-on-one shot from junior forward Anna Bundy that was denied by St. Bonaventure’s sophomore goalkeeper Adalaide Paredes.

The Bonnies (3-12-2 0-9-0 A-10) were able to even up the scoring when graduate midfielder Daniela De Souza lobbed a pass over halfway down the field to sophomore forward Ekemini Udofa, who was able to net her second goal of the season and first in A-10 play.

Duquesne answered back in the 24th minute when senior midfielder Mackenzie Muir scored off a pass from junior midfielder Kayla Leseck to give the Dukes a 2-1 lead.  A minute later, Leseck assisted another Dukes goal, this one to senior forward Maya Matesa, her 15th goal of the season, making it 3-1.

The Bonnies had a chance to close the gap, when graduate defenseman Paula Sanabria Diaz attempted a bouncing shot that went just high of the goal.

In the final minute of the half, Paredes saved a free kick from the Dukes to keep the deficit at 2.

Going into the second-half, Bonnies head coach Melissa Sherwood made the decision to move to senior goalkeeper Jael Shubert to replace Paredes, who finished the half with two saves on the five shots she faced.

In a slow second half, Anna Bundy scored her first goal of the season in the 91st minute of the game on a shot off the crossbar, giving the Dukes a 4-1 lead.

Duquesne scored their fifth off a corner kick that went off the head of Bonnies sophomore Hannah Smith and into the net with three minutes remaining in the game.

Bonaventure only managed one shot on goal in the entire game and were outshot 10-1 in total.

The Bonnies close out the season on the road against Richmond University on October 26.  The match kicks off at 1:30pm and will air live on ESPN+.
