Why Hydroflasks are still way better than Stanleys

I know Hydroflasks are so 2019, but I prefer my Hydroflask over my Stanley cup. I own a Stanley and a Hydroflask, but the Hydroflask is more efficient for my lifestyle than my Stanley. There are some scenarios in which I prefer my Stanley, but I stand with the majority with my trusty Hydroflask.

For context, I have a 32 oz Stanley — not too big — and a decently sized Hydroflask with the straw top that also closes.

I’ve had my Hydroflask since 2019 when everyone got them. It’s survived high school, cheerleading competitions, my fast food job and everyday activities. I’d say it’s got some miles on it. Even though I’ve had it for about six years, it’s held up. It’s also proven how long-lasting the brand is — if you take proper care of it.

As someone who doesn’t enjoy carrying things around all the time, I need a water bottle that will fit in either the pockets on the side of my backpack or inside my backpack without spilling. That’s something my Hydroflask can do, but my Stanley can’t.

My Hydroflask fits perfectly in the little nook I make inside my backpack without leaking. It’s perfect for the cold weather when I shove my hands into my pockets.

Also, I can’t put my Stanley in my backpack if I’m done with it — I have to carry it around if it’s empty.

Based on whether the water bottle will leak, the Stanley cup is the leakiest cup I own.

I own too many water bottles and tumblers; it’s a problem. Out of all of them, my Stanley leaks the most. The Stanley cup doesn’t have a closable top, while the Hydroflask does. It leaks more than the free tumbler I got from work that could easily crack open from one drop.

Another thing I love about my Hydroflask is how much water it holds, especially as an athlete. I know I have a smaller-sized Stanley, but my Hydroflask is the same size as my Stanley and somehow holds more water.

Being an athlete, I drink a lot of water at practices.

Using my Hydroflask ensures I have more water and differentiates which one is mine.

I cover my Hydroflask in stickers so it’s unique to me, while my Stanley is just plain orange. Even though most people don’t get the orange, I have seen a few people around St. Bonaventure with it — call me a trendsetter.

Even though I prefer my Hydroflask in most situations, I still enjoy my Stanley. I got it for Christmas this past year, so I haven’t had it too long.

My favorite thing about my Stanley is that it fits perfectly in my car’s cup holder. I take my Stanley when running errands, and it’s perfect to take a quick sip at a stoplight without putting too much thought into it.

I also like that I have the smaller-sized Stanley—no hate to anyone that owns the 40 oz. Stanley, but I think the 30 oz looks better.

As a person with a smaller stature, I don’t feel like I’m lugging around this huge tumbler, and it’s less awkward.

While everyone will be hauling around their Stanley this winter, I will be sticking with my old-school Hydroflask that’s more efficient for my lifestyle.
