AMHERST, NY — The St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team plays its first true road game of the season Saturday at Alumni Arena, challenging University at Buffalo for the second-straight year.

The Bonnies (4-2, 0-0 A-10), coming off their biggest win via margin of victory this season with a 90-60 defeat of Miami (OH), will look to extend a two-game win streak. However, the Bulls (1-6, 0-0 MAC) won the teams’ last matchup, toppling Bona 83-66 in Alumni Arena last December.

“We’ve been on the road — even though it’s a neutral site — down in the Barclays Center,” said Bona head coach Mark Schmidt. “So, we’ve traveled. The kids understand … we’re not going to Buffalo to see Niagara Falls.”

Entering Saturday, the Bonnies’ two biggest offseason additions — graduate guards Charles Pride (Bryant) and Mika Adams-Woods (Cincinnati) — lead the team in scoring, averaging 12.8 and 12.7 points per game, respecitvely. The Atlantic 10 Conference named Pride to its weekly Honor Roll for averaging 14.5 points and 7 rebounds in two-straight Bona wins last week.

Four of Buffalo’s six games this season have resulted in double-digit losses. The Bulls’ lone win — the first of new head coach George Halcovage III’s career — came against Division II Roberts Wesleyan. Fifth-year forward Sy Chatman led the Bulls with 19 points against the Redhawks, and he leads the team in scoring this season with 15.1.
Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase online.
