Bonnies continue to break records at Brockport Invitational

The St. Bonaventure men’s and women’s track teams continued their strong start to the season, picking up where they left off at the Houghton Invitation, as more school records continued to fall at the Brockport Invitational on Feb. 4.

On the men’s side, it was Clay Peets who set a new school record in the 3000 meter event, clocking in at 8:40.52, breaking his previous record by almost five seconds, while sophomore Jared Deno moved into second place in the record books with his time of 9:15.77 and freshman Ethan Luce moved up to fourth on the list.

In the 800s meter, freshman Aiden Scattergood continued his strong start to the year, finishing sixth with time of 2:01.12, a three second improvement from the Houghton Invitational while, Junior Brian Gleason set a new personal record of 2:01.40 and sophomore Owen Noecker makes his way onto the individual top 10 record list with his time of 2:05.96. 

In the 5000 meter event, it was sophomore Colin McCarthy taking the victory with a time of 16:04.08, while Alex Ryan placed fifth in the mile with his 4:28.78 time which is second in program history.

On the women’s side, multiple school records were set as freshman Adria Magnusson set a new school record in the 800 meter event, finishing seventh overall in the event with a record breaking time of 2:26.90, breaking Amberlee Robertson’s 2020 record of 2:30.70. In the mile it was freshman Helena Roy moving up to third in program history with her time of 5:29.83, while senior Linsey Clawson placed eighth with a time of 5:33.09.

In the 3000 meter event, four Bonnies broke the previous school record led by Mia Winters, who finished tenth in the event with a time of 11:03.36.  Roy, Claire Cueno and Molly Gipson also broke the previous record as well as setting new personal records. 

The Bonnies will travel to RIT on Friday for their next meet, looking to continue this strong start to the season
