St. Bonaventure University has announced it has parted ways with women’s basketball coach Jesse Fleming, per release. Erica Morrow, who joined the staff in June 2022, will serve as the interim head coach for the rest of the 2022-23 season.

Fleming was in his seventh season as head coach. He graduated from Bonaventure’s Jandoli School of Communication in 2005 and served four seasons as a student manager. Fleming then joined the coaching staff and worked his way up to associate head coach before exploring other opportunities.

He came back to Western New York and was hired as head coach in May 2016, where he compiled a record of 53-135. The team has started 3-17 and 0-5 in Atlantic 10 Conference play this season.

“After an evaluation of our program, we have decided that now is the right time to make a change,” St. Bonaventure Director of Athletics Joe Manhertz said in a release. “It is in the best interest of our program and our student-athletes to begin the transition process as we look to raise the level of Bonnies Women’s Basketball. We will conduct a national search for the next leader of our program, beginning immediately.

“We want to thank Coach Fleming for his efforts and service to St. Bonaventure, not only through his tenure as head coach, but also his time as an assistant, and his devotion to the program dating to his time as a student here. We’re appreciative of his work for our student-athletes and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Morrow previously served as an assistant at Syracuse University for two seasons, where she played collegiately from 2007-11. She scored 1,650 points and is currently fifth in program history. Morrow also served as a graduate assistant manager and the director of basketball operations at SU.

Bonaventure will host Dayton on Thursday night.
