The St. Bonaventure University School of Business will hold a retreat this Friday and Saturday. The School of Business Retreat is centered around doing principles business after the COVID-19 pandemic. The retreat will also touch on the implications of the workplace environment and global markets after the pandemic.

This is an opportunity for anyone enrolled in a business class to network with not only their peers but faculty and advisory counsel as well. COVID-19 has made it difficult to host events like these. This retreat is an opportunity that business students may not want to miss, especially if they have not felt that they have had many networking opportunities here at St. Bonaventure University.

On Friday, the retreat will start at 4 p.m. and end at 6 p.m. in the Reilly Center Hall of Fame. Dinner will be provided. On Saturday, the retreat starts at 8:30 a.m. and goes to 2:00 p.m. in the Hall of Fame. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Students need to register for this event and indicate which days they would like to attend or if they plan on attending both days of the retreat. Students can register for the retreat by scanning the QR code found on the posters in the business school. They can also email Tracey Sampson, administrative assistant to the dean, with any questions.

Many faculty run clubs in the business school here at Bonaventure. If students are looking for valuable hands-on experience before leaving college they might want to consider talking to some of the faculty this weekend. Professors may be able to understand students’ interests and how to plan toward future career goals.

Faculty and advisory councils can help guide students in the right direction when it comes to internships. The School of Business does have an internship requirement in order to graduate and current juniors may want to consider taking advantage of this opportunity as they look ahead to their senior year.

Business students have the option of doing their MBA in one year after they graduate with their undergraduate degree. Some students have questions about the MBA program and if it would be the right path for them after graduation. The retreat is an opportunity to explore that option after graduation so students can feel prepared for their future.

Most importantly though will be students learning about the kind of work environment that they will be entering in a post-pandemic world. So much has changed in the way people do business since the pandemic struck. Many meetings that used to occur in person in the past have been moved to a virtual format. Students should be aware of these changes so they can understand how jobs they are interested in have changed or what new job opportunities are now available.

School of Business students may want to consider attending the retreat this upcoming weekend. This is an opportunity for students to learn, network and eat with their peers, faculty, and advisory council. Interested students may want to register for the event soon so they do not miss out.
