Following a 9th place finish the weekend prior, the St. Bonaventure golf team picked up the pace to grab their second head-to-head win of the season at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, winning 301-314 over Army last Friday.

Bonnie’s graduate Jack Geise displayed his veteran experience during Friday’s competition, shooting a 2-over 72 on the day to tie his best score of the fall season and lead the way for the Bonnies’ triumph.

When asked about his team-leading performance, Geiss had his teammates in mind.

“It felt great [to lead the team], but it’s a team sport and the other guys contributed to the win as well,” said Geise.

As Jack said, many players made their presence for St. Bonaventure on Friday. Graduate student Christian Chapman powered the Bonnies with his contributing score of 73, just recently coming off his third top-five finish of the season. Junior Lance Sininger also had a solid day, recording his best score of the fall season with a 4-over 74. Additionally, Jude Cummings pitched in with his 6-over 76 as well as Aidan Shaw’s 79 on Friday’s outing.

Freshman Evan Rowane and sophomore Peter Byrne each shot 81 for the brown and white, along with an 82 from senior Erik Stauderman. Andrew Lemay shot an 83 and junior Andrew LaCongo rounded out the No. 6 spot in the lineup, shooting an 86 for the Bonnies.

“I’m very happy to post the score I did and help the team win, [but] we have a few head-to-head matches throughout the season and it’s always good to come out on top like we did this past weekend,” Geise said. “As the season continues, I’m looking to build off this past event as we head into the final stretch of our season.”

With a rather inconsistent start this year, the Bonnies indeed look to not only reflect but rebuild from last week’s victory as the fall season dwindles down to just two competitions remaining. St. Bonaventure will have another shot as they hit the greens once again Friday, facing off in another head-to-head matchup versus Siena in the Murray Cup,  just outside Albany at the Schuyler Meadows Club.
