Big time players make big time shots in big time games. Wednesday night, senior guard Marcus Posley did just that as he led the Bonnies to a huge 98-90 victory over the first place Saint Joseph’s Hawks at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York.

Posley turned in one of the greatest performances in the history of St. Bonaventure basketball with 47 points on 15-of-19 shooting. The 47 points is the third highest in the program’s history, and it is tied for the most points in Division I this season.

The win puts the Bonnies 21-7 (13-4) in a three-way tie for second place in the A10 (Saint Joe’s, Dayton) with just one regular season game to play.

St. Bonaventure now has to travel to Saint Louis to play the Billikens for an 8 pm tip on Saturday.

The Bonnies are right in the middle of the bubble conversation for the NCAA tournament so in order to make it into the field of 68, the Brown and White will likely have to beat the Billikens on Saturday and win at least one game in the A10 tournament next week in Brooklyn to give themselves a solid chance.

There are many factors to making the tournament and the Bonnies can’t control what other teams do, but if they keep winning then things will almost certainly fall into place.
