Long paces golf to tenth place finish

The St. Bonaventure men’s golf team traveled to Hamilton, NY for their season debut this weekend to participate in the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational at Seven Oaks Golf Club, which was hosted by Hamilton College.  

The Bonnies started strong thanks to a career-best performance by senior Corey Long. After the first eighteen holes, Long finished with a 69 on the day, which was tied for best round of the tournament at the time.  

Sophomore Zach Chaddock and Freshman Danny Gianny rounded out the top three for St. Bonaventure by shooting 75 each.  

After the first round, St. Bonaventure was in seventh place with a 295.  The Bonnies shot a 305 in the second round, which put them in seventh place at the end of day one.  

Bonaventure was just nine strokes back of the lead heading into Day 2. Corey Long concluded his great weekend by shooting 69-77-75 for a total of 221, which was tied for tenth best in the tournament. Chaddock finished with 76-76-75 which was good for a 227. Long and Chaddock shot the lowest score in round one and three for St. Bonaventure. Sophomore Nolan Ditcher shot the lowest score in round two for the Bonnies with a 75. Gianny played well in his collegiate debut by shooting a 75-77-79 which was good for a 231.  

Rounding up the lineup for the Bonnies was junior Dylan Glatz, who finished the tournament with a three-round total of 241. Overall, the Bonnies had a respectable tenth place finish in the weekend tournament.  

The team will travel to Cornell University next weekend as they participate in the Cornell Invitational.
