Transition clothing for the spring

Now that winter is coming to an end —, for real this time, it is time to start transitioning your outfits from dull colors and layers to brighter colors and lighter weight clothing. This transition won’t be all that simple. Mostly because Mother Nature loves watching our confused selves adapt to sudden weather changes. Because of the random weather changes, I would keep a pair of boots and a heavy coat on hand at school. Other than those two winter pieces, use spring break as a time to bring home winter clothes and bring back spring clothing.
During the month of March, keep your outfits in the same circle as your winter outfits, but make them lighter. This means that in the beginning of spring, you should continue dressing in neutral colors: blacks, grays, greens, khakis. Really any color that has a neutral tone to it.
What should change with the change from winter to warmer weather is the type of jackets and shoes you wear. Start with darker colored jackets when the transition from winter to spring isn’t complete yet. Bombers, leather jackets, military coats, and sweaters are perfect options for outerwear during the first month of winter to spring. Winter shoes on the other hand have got to go. Start wearing lower ankle boots, sneakers or slip-ons instead of furry, tall boots. Now that you are wearing shoes that show your ankle, start to think about throwing in some style to your outfit by simply wearing jeans with wear and tear, frayed hems, angled hems or crop hems. Jeans with a little something different can change the entire look of your outfit in just seconds, so take advantage of this very easy and useful tip.
As spring sets in, and winter is completely out of sight and out of mind, you can start transitioning your style from dull to bright and basic to patterned. Your leather jacket can be traded for a denim jacket and your sweaters can become lightweight blouses. Skirts and dresses can start being put to use, but don’t move in too quick on the idea of sandals. Save those and add some street styles to your outfits by pairing sneakers and slips with skirts and dresses.
By the time May comes around your wardrobe will be ready for sandals and hopefully you can finally put away your rain boots. As the season of winter comes to an end try to gradually shift your season styles and don’t rush on packing away all your winter clothes because they will still come in handy during the seasonal transition.
