The St. Bonaventure University men’s and women’s tennis teams suffered defeats on Saturday. The men fell 6-1 to Binghamton University at home, while the women lost 6-1 to Fordham University at Army West Point.

Freshman Indra Patwardhan and senior Lauren Doversola both were the lone winners for their respective teams.

Patwardhan won in singles over senior Thomas Caputo, while junior Hector Martinez and freshman Guillermo Garcia took their matches to three sets before ultimately losing to freshman Kuthaan Nath and sophomore Inigo Saez, respectively.

In men’s doubles, all three teams lost, with the duo of junior Victor Blanco and Martinez coming the closet to winning, falling two points short at 6-4 against Caputo and Nath.

Doversola won her singles match in three sets against senior Destiny Grunin, while senior Mara Martinez-Santori pushed her match to three sets but lost a battle to sophomore Carina Ma in the final set 10-8. All the doubles teams were defeated as well, all by the score of 6-1.

On Friday, the women also fell to Army West Point 7-0, although Martinez-Santori and junior Gabriella Bowe won in doubles 6-3 over the combination of sophomore Kirby Einck and freshman Gloria Son.

The men’s tennis team gets back in action Sunday at Cleveland State University at 2 p.m. The women wait until midweek, taking on Wright State University at 4 p.m. at home.
