Western New Yorkers love Buffalo sports.
While other areas of the country may ignore this great city, many locals are infatuated with its regional teams. So here it is: The BV’s take on all things Buffalo sports.

Bills

The Buffalo Bills 2016-17 season is already off to a roaring start. Pro-bowl running back LeSean McCoy got into a bar fight in Philadelphia and is facing possible arrest warrants. Suspensions might fall down from the organization or the league as a whole. Two officers got injured in the incident. This is nothing new for Bills fans who are used to seeing running backs face charges. It seems as though “Shady” is fitting into his nickname quite well.

Bandits
The Buffalo Bandits are off to a 3-0 start at home this season while dropping their first two road games. Assistant Coach John Tavares, the franchise leader in goals, is in his first season behind the bench. Forward Dhane Smith leads leads the team in goals (16), assists (21) and points (37). The Bandits currently sit in second place in the East division and don’t play at home until Feb. 20 against the Swarm.

Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres lost three straight after their 7-4 loss to the Florida Panthers. Despite Sam Reinhart’s two power play goals and a weak goal scored by Evander Kane and Mike Weber, the Sabres were unable to keep their puck out of their own net. The Sabres’s other two losses came against the Boston Bruins. Both games the Sabres went to extra time with one game ending in a shootout and the other ending in a questionable matter with some questionable decisions made by the referees. Even with the Sabres losing three straight, the team continues to show what the future holds. Reinhart’s two goals tied him with Jack Eichel for second on the team in goal scoring and tied for third in the NHL in rookie goal scoring. Current highest scorer on the Sabres is Ryan O’Reilly. Also, we saw Kane, who was so rightfully named after Evander Holyfield, fight Alex Petrovic three times Tuesday night. Kane took down his man in all three contests and even gave him a nice gash above the right eye. The Sabres are back in action tonight when they face off against the Montreal Canadiens.
