Bonaventure students got a taste of the Big Apple last weekend. For one day, the students took on the city that never sleeps.

The Campus Activities Board, (CAB) coordinates these bus trips. They happen twice a year, once in the fall semester and once in the spring semester. Fifty-five students participated in this trip last week.

Hannah Schaefer, sophomore international studies major, said she enjoyed the Big Apple.

“When I was in New York City, I traveled with two of my great friends,” said Schaefer. “Before we got on the bus at Bryant Park, we traveled to Grand Central Station. My favorite part of the day was visiting Astoria because the view of the city and the river was beautiful.” Schaefer also said that she enjoyed seeing her friend’s hometown.

Gabby Nicolini, a sophomore psychology major, visited the National September 11 Memorial & Museum and the Freedom Towers.

“This was my first time in the city,” said Nicolini. “I really appreciated being able to be in New York City so close to the anniversary of the attacks. It was nice to take time to honor the lives that were lost. I appreciated everything that I was able to see, and I am eager to get back and experience it again.”

Maggie Kovacs, junior English major, had the opportunity to experience Fashion Week on the streets.

“The fashion is so diverse there, which made us inspired to thrift since it was Fashion Week,” said Kovacs. “I really loved seeing all of the interesting street outfits for Fashion Week. We did not do a lot of sightseeing, but we did briefly pass through Times Square. It was mesmerizing at night.”

Abby Cohen, associate director of club sports, intramurals, and student engagement, said she recommends students get involved with CAB to help with future trips.

“If students want a say in future bus trips, I would recommend getting involved with CAB’s Off-Campus Committee,” Cohen said. “It is a great way to get involved and help to plan student trips.”

According to Cohen, there will also be a bus trip to the Buffalo Bills game on Sunday, Dec. 6. Tickets will go on sale for this event soon.
