The Urban Art Club’s work in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) was vandalized in the University Chapel in Doyle Hall sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

St. Bonaventure University Ministries used the artwork for its interactive “Witness Walk” on Monday, Jan. 19.

Julianne Wallace, associate director of faith formation, worship and ministry, said the vandalism showed the opposite effect than what the MLK walk intended.

“It is disappointing that this happened to artwork that represents us standing together for injustice in our world, but it just shows us, as a society, how much farther we have to go so all can have an equal voice.  Critical issues should not divide us.  Instead, we should be united in respectful dialogue as we grow together in understanding each other.”

If anyone has any information on the vandalism, contact safety and security at (716) 375-2525.
