On Sept. 30, Technology Services promoted Tim Geiger to Interim Enterprise and Web Service Manager, replacing Denise Kirschner.

Geiger said he has been working as the web and network administrator and has worked in Technology Services for almost five years. According to Geiger, his new position provides a working leadership role to the Enterprise Services team.

“(I’m) actively responsible for the team’s development of any university computer applications, as well as planning and coordinating any new initiatives desire by business operations and department strategies.”

Geiger said he’s happy to get the position because of the trials it will bring.

“The only reason I wanted to apply for this job is to have more of a challenge,” Geiger said. “It allows more room for growth. It is always good to grow. If you don’t feel like you are learning in your field, then it isn’t the field for you.”

Geiger said he wanted to recognize his staff members: Lauren Newcome, Ryan Ackley, and Mikhail Sudakov.

“This job is a lot easier with my team’s hard work and dedication,” Geiger said. “Everything we do is for the students. It may not seem that way sometimes, but we are here to provide an easier life for the students.”

Arlene Thurston, the computer operator in Technology Services, said she believes Geiger will do well in his new position and spoke to his involvement in an upgrading project that took place recently in Technology Services.

“Of course I think he is qualified,” Thurston said. “He put in a lot of hard work into the project they all just completed.  I think he is the best possible fit for the position and will do the best he can.”
