Easter elegance

Welcome to this week’s Fashion Focus. Easter is just around the corner, and it’s one of my favorite times of year. Easter is Christianity’s oldest holiday, in which Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The date changes slightly every year, falling on a Sunday between March 21 and April 25.

To me, Easter means a combination of things. First, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Aside from the religious aspect of Easter, it generally indicates a change in the season, the beginning of spring and a fresh start to the year. Around Eastertime, the weather is generally nicer and the days are longer. All in all, it’s a lovely time of the year. Typically in my home in Ireland, we celebrate Easter by going to mass, having lamb for lunch and rolling our eggs down the side of a mountain. In addition to this we get a new Easter outfit every year. Clothes and chocolate — maybe this is why I love Easter so much.

However, while I am not at home this Easter, I am very lucky that a bit of home will come to me. I am meeting my mummy in New York City for the Easter break. Being in one of the most fashionable cities in the world, I will have to get some new Easter clothes. I have already been on the lookout for what I can get. I have put together two boards of egg-cellent ladies and men’s Easter fashions. I hope this is helpful and I wish you all a happy and peaceful Easter.

1:Topshop NEON green quilted SWEATER $35
2:H&M: White & Black Spotted Scarf $6.99
3:Topshop: Carnival Graphic Print Tube Skirt $56
4: Forever21: Statement Necklace $8.80
5: MissGuided.com: Grey Ankle Boots $62.98

I put together this outfit, as it is something I would definitely wear myself. I love the skirt, and I think it is perfect for daywear. Remember, you can always wear a pair of black tights underneath to dress it down a little. Wear it with a brightly colored sweater. Any color will go nicely, from bright green, yellow or orange to a pastel pink, blue or lilac. It can also be worn for nightwear with a brightly colored blouse or crop top. Keep the pattern simple and finish off the look with a simple shoe, clutch and necklace. The skirt can be a staple part of your wardrobe and recycled many times for a different look. In a similar way, the sweater can also create multiple looks with this skirt or for a more casual look with denim jeans, shorts or Converse.

1:H&M: Beige Quilted Bomber Jacket $41.50
2: H&M: Green & Cream Stripped T-shirt: $17.95
3:H&M: Light Denim Jeans, $34.95
4:H&M: Dark Brown Suede Chelsea Boot $99
5:Topshop: Dark Brown $32

For this men’s look, I chose these brown and cream tones to create a casual Sunday look to go along with the Easter theme. My favorite piece is the boots. They can dress up almost any jean or trouser. The jeans are a nice shade of denim — not too dark nor too light which means they will go with a lot more than the classic dark jean. The T-shirt ties the look together under this stylish bomber jacket. This outfit is perfect for any occasion.
