“It’s never too early to start planning for your future.”

College students, hear statements like this on a regular basis. However, not all take action. Once again, the Career and Professional Readiness Center is offering students an opportunity to jump start their career planning next Friday at 3 p.m.

The CPRC will host Career Conversations via Skype featuring journalism and mass communication alumni – Greg Licamele ’99 and Elizabeth Tascione-Licamele ’00. The two alumni will share advice with students on how to become successful in their fields, more specifically for journalism and mass communication (JMC) and integrated marketing communication (IMC) majors.

“Students will hear about two dynamic career paths first-hand and learn how Greg and Elizabeth got where they are today,” said career counselor at the CPRC, Erica Fleischman-Roethel. “They will learn tips on what skill sets are of crucial importance that will help you rise through the career ranks.”

The tips they provide can be enforced by students right now rather than later on in their academic careers.

“The Licameles will focus on things you should be doing now as an undergrad to improve your chances of landing a killer internship or job,” Fleischman-Roethel said.

Considering their successful careers thus far, both alumni have a lot to offer the students, according to Fleischman-Roethel.

Greg Licamele is the director of external communications for Fairfax County Government in Virginia, chair of the communications committee for Mt. Irenaeus and a member of the Mountain’s Board of Trustees. Tascione Licamele is the chief of public communications for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Langley, Virginia.

The event is geared toward JMC/IMC students but a student of any major could benefit from attending, according to Fleischman-Roethel.

“We are very grateful to the Licameles for taking time out of their incredibly busy lives to share their stories with current Bona’s students,” Fleischman-Roethel said.  “Although life is beyond a fast pace for them, they feel it’s important to find the time to give back to an institution that still means so much to both of them.”

Career Conversations will be held in room 211 of the Reilly Center. For more information, contact or stop by the CPRC.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to start “planning for your future,” why not start next Friday? Career Conversations is an opportunity to network with alumni, gain knowledge for your career and begin to cross off a few items from your “must-do before I graduate” list.

It is never too early to start planning. Take advantage of this exciting opportunity.
