Hi all, and welcome to this week’s Fashion Focus. I’m about to jump on the Movember

bandwagon here. It is that time of year when some among the male population take pride in not shaving for a whole month to raise money for cancer research. It’s a very charitable month indeed. I’m all for philanthropy and raising money for such causes.

However, finding the best way to partake in Movember is proving rather difficult. Do I completely risk my reputation by growing and sporting some nifty facial hair? I somehow don’t think that would be advisable or fair to anyone who has to come in contact with me. I could grow my eyebrows, but I am not going to do that. I went on my usual rampage around the Internet to comeup with some alternatives. I have put together a little board below with some ‘stash-printed garments.

A 20-year-old design student from Otago Polytechnic created “Goodman’s Mustache Necklaces” to allow the ladies to partake in Movember. The necklaces are available on their Facebook page, facebook.com/GoodmansMustacheNecklaces. They retail at $15 — $2 of which goes directly to the Movember charity.

When I think of an ethically concerned brand that gives back to the community, I think of TOMS Shoes. For each pair of its shoes purchased, TOMS donates one pair of shoes to a child in an underdeveloped country. Can you imagine the amount of shoes it donates? Thanks to this great incentive, TOMS has given many underprivileged people something that we all take for granted. Of course, TOMS shoes has also participated in Movember. The company has created a collection of special edition Movember-themed shoes for both men and women. They follow TOMS popular simple design and have a little mustache printed on the side. I think they are very cute. This is the fourth year running TOMS has worked in partnership with Movember and aimed to not only raise funds, but raise awareness among men about

different men’s health issues.
