Hello everyone, welcome to Fashion Focus. This week, I will be looking at an op/ed in last week’s BV titled “Clothing Shouldn’t Have to Compromise Style for Size,” which expressed the writer’s annoyance that plus-sized clothes aren’t as fashionable as regular sizes. I totally agree with what she said. A lot of the clothes for plus-sized women do absolutely nothing for their shape and the styles are dated.  There seems to be rules for plus-sized girls to stick to plain, black clothes. And while some people feel slimmer in black, others might just feel drab and tired in dull clothing. Break the rules, wear bright colors, wear patterns and rock horizontal stripes. If you like it and you feel comfortable in it, wear it.

When I was in New York City last weekend (which was simply amazing), I noticed Forever 21 and H&M had sections in their shops specifically for plus sizes. I had a little look around, and I saw some lovely pieces. I have put together two style boards which I love and hope you will too.

be bold

This is a fun outfit that really breaks said “rules.” The bright blouse is eye-catching and complements the jeans; this can be worn on a warmer day with sandals or on a fall day with the boots and cardigan. By adding pale grey neutral tones to the outfit, it ensures that you don’t overdo the color and pattern combo. I really love the cardigan. I feel it is a perfect shape for plus-sizes and can be re-worn with almost any outfit.

fall feeling

These colors all complement each other very well and are perfect for this time of year. If you prefer to keep it simple and classic, you can do so, but you can also keep it fun by adding a playful tee and some color. The jeggings (leggings that look like jeans) are perfect for any occasion; they are soft, comfy and look great. I choose this color instead of black because I think the maroon adds a nice tone to the outfit; they also come in dark green and black. I love the jacket because it can be drawn in at the waist, allowing you to show your curves.

Every girl needs at least one or two nice dresses in her wardrobe. I have selected what I think are the nicest in the plus-size range and they are all from ASOS CURVE. They have some lovely dresses and most of the above ones are on sale, so surely it would be rude not to shop, right? They have loads of different dresses at us.asos.com.
