Are you ready for this? Think back to your younger years watching with envy as lucky kids got slimed on Nickelodeon television shows. Now it’s your turn.

Tomorrow at noon, St. Bonaventure is kicking off its first-ever Slime Nation Run. This extreme race takes place on campus and spans two miles, across seven different obstacles along the way.

The catch: all challenges include tons of slime.

Todd Palmer, associate professor of management, is organizing the event with the entrepreneurship business class and said he’s excited to see what the event can bring to campus.

“It is our hope to create an entertaining event that provides a unique educational perspective for our students,” Palmer said. “We are hoping that a lot of folks want to be slimed!”

Senior marketing major Cody Clifford is on the logistics team for the event and said the business class has high expectations for this race and would like to make it an annual activity.

“Although this is the first year, I think that it’s something unique enough to catch the attention of the St. Bonaventure community,” Clifford said. “Not only that, but it’s also Family Weekend and something that is appealing for students to do with their parents.”

This event is more than just a fun activity for senior management Hilary Hoot. For the past year, this has been her project.

“Myself, Meghan Brown and Simone Bernstein are in charge of the marketing for this entire event,” Hoot said. “I thoroughly enjoy being a team leader and taking charge of important subject matter such as events.”

The marketing team promoted this event using social media, flyers and the registration table in the Reilly Center.

Hoot said Slime Nation was fun to work on and is also very important to the group.

“I loved working on this project because we are raising money for a good cause,” she said.

All proceeds benefit four local charities in the community, promoting causes such as bullying prevention, healthy eating and living and the education of local children.
