After a controversial inauguration lip-synching scandal, Beyoncé won her fans and even her critics back over after a fabulous halftime performance at the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Beyoncé has been performing onstage since she was a child, but this performance came at a perfect time for the 31-year-old pop sensation. From the moment she entered the stage, it was clear Beyoncé performed live. At the presidential inauguration a few weeks ago, she shocked fans by lip-synching to the national anthem. She admitted to singing along to a prerecorded track because she did not have a proper sound check and the cold weather would have affected her voice, ABC News reported.

Beyoncé has admitted to being a perfectionist in the past, according to a Feb. 1 CNN article. Her Super Bowl performance of her hit songs, such as “Love on Top” and “Crazy in Love,” was absolute perfection.

The Nielsen Co. estimated 108.4 million people tuned in to watch Beyoncé perform, according to a Feb. 4 article on the CBS News website. Fans were thrilled to see the reunion of Destiny’s Child when they joined Beyoncé onstage to sing “Bootylicious” and “Independent Women Pt. 1,” the popular single highlighted on the soundtrack of 2000’s “Charlie’s Angels.” It’s safe to say Super Bowl viewers were far from disappointed at the halftime performance.

Beyoncé’s glowing confidence on stage really showed. There was no comparison to last year’s performance of Madonna singing to a backing track at halftime. Even those who scrutinized Beyoncé for her lip-synching fiasco at the inauguration have given her credit for bringing back good entertainment to the Super Bowl halftime show.

Social media dedicated time to the anticipation of the halftime show on Sunday night. An estimated 30.6 million users commented on Twitter, Facebook and GetGlue check-ins, according to a Feb. 4 Bluefin Labs website post. Instagram reported more than 200 photos per second were posted of Beyoncé during her set, which included hits such as “Halo” and “Single Ladies,” according to ABC News.

Beyoncé told press ahead of the show that she recognized how big of an opportunity she had with the Super Bowl halftime gig but felt ready. She said she felt her 16-year career has led to this, according to a Feb. 4 CNN Entertainment interview.

Beyoncé recently announced her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, and after seeing her halftime show, we can expect to see more equally fierce performances worldwide.
