The School of Business purchased a one-year subscription to an online service that provides access to business news, job postings and special feature articles related to the Buffalo area, called Buffalo’s Business First.

The subscription includes a search function, and provides digital access to all back issues and to the “book of lists” that is published each year.

A representative from Buffalo Business First gave a presentation which demonstrated the resources available through the website, according to Dr. Carol M. Fischer, Interim Dean of Business.

“We were very impressed with the product, and decided that the benefits were justified by the price, so we entered into a one-year contract to provide Buffalo First access to the SBU community.  One of the things that appealed to us is that the subscription gives access to all students, faculty and staff,” said Fischer.

Students will have access to information posted on the website about possible job openings.

“This resource will enable St. Bonaventure students to make connections with people and companies from the Buffalo and greater Western New York.  They will find interesting local news stories and resources that will aid students in professional networking,” said Fischer.

Business First Book of Lists provides listings of hundreds of the hottest area companies in their fields, by ranking. Names of key decision makers, along with their titles and complete contact information, will also be available, according to Buffalo’s Business First website.

“The subscription also provides access to the book of lists published by Buffalo Business First each year. The lists have a wealth of information that is of potential interest to students, faculty and staff,” said Fischer. “Students who are seeking jobs or internships can use the online job search feature.  Students who are conducting research will be able to use the resources on the website to learn more about specific companies or current business issues.”
