Australia, Ireland and Spain are just a few of the many countries where Bonaventure students have the opportunity to study abroad. Yvette Jordan, assistant of international studies, helps ensure students are able to visit these foreign countries.

Jordan assists the director of international studies, Alice Sayegh. Before any students come in contact with Sayegh, they must contact Jordan, who sets up appointments.

“We make appointments for study abroad students, put together their application file, make sure they have all the required documents and forms completed and send all their files to the foreign countries,” Jordan said. “We gather all their paperwork and make sure they have everything in on time .

Jordan is originally from Portville and attended Alfred State College, where she studied banking and finance.

Jordan said she enjoys working with Bonaventure students.

“I love the students, the work I do and the programs that we send our students to,” she said.

Jordan said her favorite part of working in the Office of International Studies is hearing students tell their stories when they come back after studying abroad.

“I love hearing about their (students’) experiences when they come back and how almost every time it’s wonderful,” she said. “What I like the most, is seeing the self-satisfaction from them once they go abroad.”

Jordan said students come back to campus with extraordinary experiences.

“Usually when they come back, they come and visit and tell us what a great experience they had ,” she said. “It makes me very happy to hear they had an experience of a lifetime.”

Jordan said she enjoys hearing about the experience students had because it makes her feel like the work she and Sayegh does is worthwhile.

“It’s wonderful knowing what we planned paid off,” Jordan said.
